~The Miller Life~: Our Day without Electricity and New Years Recap..........

What a day it has been here today!! We woke up to really YUK weather. Lots of rain and heavy winds. At about 9:00 the electricity went out. I figured it would come right back on, but after 2 hours and the house starting to get chilly I started thinking maybe not! A house with 3 kids, no electricity, and YUK weather......fun, fun, fun!! Finally at around 1:00 (and after I had to call Dale to come home from work to lift the garage door for me so I could get the car out.....it really is very heavy) we went to eat some lunch and then on to Target to stack up on batteries and buy a few more flash lights. We had no idea how long the power would be out and we found out half of the town was out of power. So as it started getting dark we lit some candles and the kids ran around playing flash light tag. If it wasn't so cold out it actually would not have been so bad.....but I was freezing! As it got later Dale took the boys out to see the movie National Treasure so I could get Faith settled down for the night. 30 minutes after they left the electricity came back on! Yeah! So now Faith is sound asleep, the boys are all out at a movie, Ruby is curled at my feet, and the house is nice and quiet....after the day I had I am enjoying the peace!

Below are just a few photos of New Years. We took the kids out New Years Eve to see the Chipmunk Movie. We figured it was the only movie Faith would some what sit through. It was actually pretty cute and we all had a good time. We planned to have our count down early at 9:00 for Faith, but she did not even make it that long. We sat in front of the TV and watched the "ball drop" and just had a quiet, cozy New Years Eve.

On New Years Day we spent it putting Christmas away. I am always so ready for it, but I can not stand to actually do it. I'm thankful Dale is such a big help with it all. Faith enjoyed helping us too, while the boys always seemed to be off hiding some where. I love the way the house feels after it is all put away. Fresh, clean (well, not really clean with 3 kiddos home at Christmas break) and ready for a brand new year!!

So back to school and our old routine on Monday! Yippee! I am ready for it! Either that or a nice vacation on a sunny beach some where! This YUK weather is suppose to last for another week!

Well, off to enjoy some peace and quiet while it lasts! I'm not use to this!!

Took this New Years Eve right before leaving for our movie (the boys were already in the car and would not get out for a picture).....notice Ruby in the back, she knew we were leaving and refused to go in the house.....my family! They just do not cooperate! Love this picture of Faith though...she looks so grown-up on her final picture of 2007!
