I Hope You Dance....................

Yesterday I took Faith to a dance orientation to see if she would be interested in taking dance lessons. She was in gymnastics last year for about 6 months and once she started school 3 mornings I pulled her out. She enjoyed the gymnastics, but I just did not want her feeling too overwhelmed. Lately I have been feeling she is ready for another activity so I decided to give dancing a try. I was not getting my hopes up as I had no idea what the outcome would be. Yesterday was just an introduction to some of the steps with a one on one teacher. At first Faith was very hesitant and did not want me to leave the room (which is very unlike her!) She gradually warmed up and ended up loving it! When the class was over she said "I want to come back and can we go get tap and ballet shoes!" She also said, "I did great, didn't I!" (I have a very confident daughter!) Thursday will be the real test when we go to the actual class with all the other children. I'm hoping she will enjoy it, but I'm still not getting my hopes up! (well, maybe just a little!:) I just do not want to force her to do anything she isn't comfortable with.
Sooo, yesterday evening we went out to buy her a pair of tap and ballet shoes (she better like it!!) She was so excited!! When we got in the car to go home I said I would go buy her a dance outfit tomorrow. She said, "No, I want to get one now." "Pleeeeaaase" Of course I couldn't resist, so we swung by Target and I let her pick out her very own dance outfit. She even had to go in the fitting room to try it on. Too cute! When we got home she had to try it all on and try out her new shoes. We'll see how it goes tomorrow! Here she is in all her glory!!
It's funny, I was just chatting with another blog Mom friend (who's daughter is actually from Faith's same province) about how our daughter's are not very girly girly. Faith would so much rather dress as a superhero (or doctor, fireman, astronaut, etc) than a princess. She does not like to play with dolls, prefers stuffed animals. She will even dress her stuffed animals up. She does not like dresses, prefers skirts or pants. So I am very excited about this girly thang!! We'll see if it lasts???

She is just such a doll!!!! Love the picture and I'll keep my fingers crossed that she loves dancing...for her mommys sake :) Too funny because I already have Mia in dance - she was home a month and 1/2 when we joined :)
