Chinese New Year..............

I'm just now getting caught up on CNY! We dragged out the celebrations this year and celebrated the full 2 weeks!
On Monday Jan. 26th Chinese New Year Day Faith dressed for school in honor of CNY. She also brought in red envelopes filled with chocolate gold coins, coloring sheets of an Ox, and a book about CNY for her teacher to read. She was so proud bringing everything in and I'm so happy we decided to share this special day with her class.
Faith's Chinese outfit ended up being a little too small. The pants were way too short on her!lol Faith does not like the dresses, only the pant outfits. I pulled out a gold skirt she had in her closet and it worked just perfect!

All set for school!

We celebrated that Friday evening with some local families by meeting at a Chinese Buffet restaurant for dinner. I started this 3 years ago by getting together just 2 other families we had met locally that also adopted from China. Each year it seems to grow a little more and this year we had 8 families celebrating together. It has been a lot of fun getting together with these families each year and watching the children as they grow. I forgot to bring my camera which I was pretty bummed about so I have no photos of this!:(

We had planned to go to the CNY parade this year in San Fransisco, but I ended up sick so we watched it on TV instead!:)


Then this past Friday on the 13th one of our local High Schools which has a Chinese Club sponsored a CNY dinner and celebration. We decided to bring Faith to this and I am so glad we did. The students did such a great job at putting on a wonderful show....especially the Dragon Dancers! This was Faith's first time seeing this and she loved it! She was standing on her chair cheering them on! It was so cute. The Dragons came over to her and "wiggled" for her. She got such a kick out of it. Here are a few photos from the evening.........
